Zhiganov Nazib Gayazovich (1911-1988) - Tatar composer, teacher, public figure. In 1935 he graduated from the Moscow Regional Music College, in 1938 from the Moscow Conservatory, class of composition with G. I. Litinsky (thesis work - the opera Kachkyn, which opened the Tatar Opera and Ballet Theater in 1939). Since 1945 (since the day of foundation) rector and teacher (orchestration class) of the Kazan Conservatory, since 1953 - professor. The leading place in the creativity of Zhiganov belongs to the opera and symphony genres. The most popular are the historical-legendary opera "Altynchach" and the monologue opera-poem "Jalil". The musical language of the opera is brightly national, dynamic and modern. Zhiganov's symphonic works are significant: "Suite on Tatar Themes", "Symphonic Songs", the 2nd Symphony "Sabantuy", etc. Zhiganov's work is marked by a constant search for ideas and images that are consonant with modernity. The national flavor in Zhiganov's works is uniquely combined with the traditions of the Russian classical school.
