Believed to be between 500 to 1200 years old, the Dharug people would mix crushed sandstone, clay and water and animal fat and blow it over their hands to create these stencils. This was done when an initiation from child to man (warrior) was undertaken.
I walk the 3km Red Hands Cave trail loop visiting the cave art, stone grooves and the beauty of the Glenbrook National Park.
