Centuries ago, when the Lich of Shadowmere cast his Curse of Eternal Forgetting upon an entire kingdom, the bard Mnemara the Memory Keeper made an impossible choice. As families forgot their children and heroes forgot their names, she opened her mind like a vast library—absorbing every vanishing memory into herself. The curse broke, the kingdom remembered, but Mnemara forgot everything of her own life, keeping only the borrowed memories of thousands.
TONIGHT the tavern resonates with seekers of the lost. Battle-scarred veterans run weathered fingers along the crystal walls, searching for the faces of fallen comrades whose names have slipped away. A young elven child sits quietly in the corner, sketching desperately, trying to capture her mother's fading smile before it vanishes completely. Traveling bards huddle near the Echo Hearth, carefully transcribing stories that exist nowhere else but in whispered fragments. Most touching of all, an elderly couple sways slowly on the memory floor, tears of joy streaming as they rediscover their wedding song playing from the walls themselves!
The tavern's walls shimmer with crystallized memory—a thousand fragments of forgotten moments trapped like insects in amber. Touch one, and you might see a knight's last stand, a mother's lullaby, or a kingdom's lost holiday. Above, the Mist of Remembrance drifts eternally, carrying specks of light that are actually moments—first kisses, last words, childhood laughter—waiting to find their way home.
The signature brew, "Yesterday's Dream," arrives in a glass that clouds with each sip, revealing flashes of memories you didn't know you'd lost. The barkeep never asks for payment in coin—only in stories, especially the ones you're afraid you'll forget. At the tavern's heart stands the Mirror of Echoes, which shows not your current reflection, but glimpses of who you were in moments time has stolen—the child who believed in dragons, the lover who wrote poetry, the dreamer who was going to change the world.
