We are now living, more than ever, in a world focused and governed by beauty, and you can see this wherever you turn your head, we are surrounded by beautiful buildings, beautiful cars, beautiful gadgets, beautiful clothing and so on. Today, producing something that is unappealing visually, and hoping to be successful, is highly unlikely. It would be inappropriate if not childish, for someone to think that this trend is unable to penetrate different professions just because they do not relay on aesthetics but more on functionality. Endodontics is all about saving teeth and allowing the patient to retain his natural dentition for as long as possible, this being said when one is thinking about this field he should also keep in mind that very true saying ”You can't see the forest for the trees”. Endodontics is performed by endodontists, which as all people do, have different personalities, different egos, and sometimes, in recent years more often than not, different perceptions about what quality endodontics is all about. Believe it or not, Esthetics has become a main concern in Endodontics as well, the black and white esthetics of course, that which is offered by narrow and curved canals shaped in a minimal invasive way and that filled with gutta-percha and sealer or more recently bioceramics. It is in the mists of all this that the X-ray has falsely become nowadays the true and sometime only refence point taken into consideration when we are analyzing the quality of a root canal treatment. Its’s time to step back from false dogmas and social media endodontics and turn our eyes on the medical truths that are out there. Surely, they do not hold the beauty that one wants to see but there is a high probability that they can offer the medical result that one needs.
