Borneo is INCREDIBLE. This video shows you the highlights of nature and animals. Protecting this area of the world is incredibly important as this video shows there are many species endemic to the area and we were lucky enough to capture this to share with you.
Starting in Kuala Lumpur we explored a vibrant blend of cultures in a modern city that battles skyscrapers against green trees and canopy walkways, and the occasional thunderstorm.
We flew to Borneo, and absolute once in a lifetime bucket list destination, that isn't as expensive as you may think.
Tiny planes, rivers, huge caves, a whole host of national parks and conservation areas. We were lucky enough to capture some wildlife and have a local guide in Sarawak, taking us to an Orangutan conservation area smaller and less touristy than the world famous one in Sepilok. It had been raining and the animals had come out for the afternoon and came up close which was rare for so many, even the guide couldn't believe it.
We also almost died, in the video you will see us on a boat and the camera flip. This was due to very rough water and the boat almost capsizing, we flew off our seats as it broke and nearly went overboard.
Visiting local indigenous people, seeing millions of bats exit a cave for feeding, bugs, Mulu had it all. Stay inside the park for a better deal and defiantly book in advanced.
On the more expensive side, we took a tour in the Sabah region to visit the Kinabatangan river, Sun Bears and Turtle Island. The price is fair as it goes towards the vital conservation of these areas and is limited for tourist numbers.
Filming of the turtle nesting was strictly prohibited but this video features the incredible sights in photo form. The local people working at these places had genuine passion and to a skeptical mind like myself it was very reassuring to see and to support these places that do not get as much funding or resources as more wealthy nations.
