I Didn’t Expect This From a Free Headphone Plugin

Ever since I had my kid, my entire monitoring setup has changed. Headphones aren’t the backup plan anymore — for a lot of us, they are the system. Late nights, nap times, apartment life… speakers just aren’t always an option.

So when Beyerdynamic announced Headphone Lab at NAMM 2026 — a free calibration and loudspeaker-emulation plugin built specifically for their studio headphones — I had to dig in and see if this was actually useful… or just clever marketing.
