Saturday, September 30, 2023 the Pilgrim Fathers Church in Delfshaven filled up for Sacred Songs Rotterdam. The choirs, solo singers and instrumentalists of this 15th edition of Sacred Songs, led by Monica Akihary, delivered a fantastic musical ode to Freedom and Peace. Various spiritual traditions and cultures came together in one dazzling musical performance. In the spotlight were Khorshid Dadbeh, Gerard van der Zijden & Cantorij Delfshaven, Wendy Teixeira, Emine Tokail & Mevlüt Akgüngör and Cici Isenia & Choir.
They touched the audience's hearts with their beautiful repertoire, authenticity and convincing performances. Christian hymns sounded after Iranian mystical music played virtuoso on the tanbour; Indian mantras after soulful Caribbean praise; Turkish Sufi singing and ney music after intimate Cabo-Verde songs. In the final chord, all the vocalists and instrumentalists along with Madhu Singh performed the age-old mantra for peace Sarveshaam'.
