Man, what I wouldn't give for a wind-free day in Iowa. With the record warm winter we've been having, Polk County decided to light their sirens off this month which is practically unheard of for them this time of year. Max and I decided to give this pair of sirens in Ankeny a go. While the two closest sirens were by far the loudest, half of Ankeny's entire system can also be heard in the background. Especially prominent is the farmer's market SRNB screaming away a little over a half mile to the south with the middle school DC also poking in a few times. DMACC's 2T22 is audible throughout the test, harmonizing with the DC in frame, and Johnston's Whelens also occasionally pop in which are a little over 5 miles to the southwest. Thanks for watching, and enjoy!
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office tests their siren system on the first Saturday of every month at 12 PM, weather permitting. They will not test if it is below freezing.
