On 24 August 2019 University of Cape Town student Uyinene Mrwetyana was raped and murdered inside a Post Office in Claremont, Cape Town. On Tuesday evening a memorial service was held outside the Clareinch Post Office to mark the two year anniversary of Mrwetyana's death. Mrwetyana's memorial comes following the murder of University of Fort Hare student Nosicelo Mtebeni.
