Amtrak F40PHR unit 406/NPCU 90406 Tribute

Happy F40PH Friday everyone!!!!!!!!

Hello everyone and welcome back to my channel and welcome to my channel if you are new here.

For today's new video we will be taking a look a some great memories made by the 40th Anniversary Amtrak F40PH.

406 was built for Amtrak back in 1987 as one of the last phase 3 painted F40'S. In the mid 1990'S Amtrak repainted a few of their F40'S into the then new phase 4 paint scheme and 406 became one of these units.

In the early 2000'S 406 was retired and stored away at the Beech Grove Shops in Beech Grove Indiana after it was involved in a wreck.

And finally in the year of 2011 Amtrak had its 40th anniversary celebration and as part of the celebration F40PHR unit 406 was rebuilt into a Non-Powered Control Unit or NPCU for short. And it was also repainted back into the phase 3 scheme.
