How to measure for a utility kilt or traditional kilt - UT Kilts

In this video I show you how to measure for your utility kilt or traditional kilt from UT Kilts. Always remember to never use your pants size or another kilt size to order your new kilt. Always take your measurement and follow the sizing guide for each individual kilt to see the proper size you need to order.
Waist Measurement
Follow these steps to get the correct waist measurement for your kilt:
1. Choose the spot you want to wear your kilt at, whether it is at your belly button or lower on your waist where you wear your pants. It is important to measure where you plan to wear it or the kilt will not fit
2. Take a snug, but comfortable measurement at that spot. That will be the measurement you base your sizing on. Depending on which kilt you get will depend on the size.
3. You can also use the tape to go up and down in size to see how a bigger or smaller kilt will fit on your waist.
Length Measurement
Follow these steps to get the correct length measurement for your kilt:
1. Start at the spot where you measured for your waist.
2. Holding the top of the tape, run your hand down to the bottom of the tape and mark it with your finger
3. Be sure not to let the top of the tape slip down while you are bending over. That will skew the length measurement you need.
Most people will fit the in stock length measurements of 22-23 inches for utility and 24 inches for traditional. If you are shorter than most or taller than most, you may need a custom order which we can do here:

Hip Measurement
Follow these steps to get the correct hip measurement for the special order traditional kilts:
1. Take the tape measure and wrap it around the biggest part of your hip / butt.
2. You want it more on the snug to loose side of things.
Only a few of our special order kilts require this measurement. You will be prompted for it if it is needed.
That is it! You now know how to measure your waist, length, and hip to get the kilt you need. Keep in mind that many of our kilts are in stock with pre-made length and hip measurements. They will fit most but we do have our custom order options for those that need something bigger / smaller in the waist or longer / shorter in the length.
