Strawberry Bed Mulching in the Mist | Sheep Fleece & Composting Egg Boxes

Today I’m back on the plot for a misty afternoon of working on the main strawberry bed. I'm doing it no-dig method so laying down cardboard then a thick layer of sheep fleece (which I've never used before!) for weed suppression. This is part of my ongoing strawberry patch makeover, and it’s already starting to look so much better. Using sheep fleece as mulch not only helps with weeds but also keeps moisture in the soil and adds a lovely softness to the whole bed. This patch gets smothered by spreading sorrel so I'm really hoping this works. The weather was closing in fast, but I still managed to get a good chunk done as well as adding some egg cartons to the compost bin - find out why you don't want to be ripping them up too much!
