Frustrated Response to Game Changers Documentary - Please Help Us All - Thomas DeLauer

I am not anti plant-based. As a matter of fact, I have done videos. And I honestly think that even the ketogenic diet works well for people that are plant based. But The Game Changers documentary does everybody a disservice. It does, of course, the ketogenic diet community a disservice. It does omnivores a disservice, but quite frankly, most of all, it even does the plant-based community a disservice because it's using false information, creating false hype, and it's actually throwing you under the bus, and you don't even realize it.

So let's poke some holes in this, and let's talk about what's going on. But first, please do hit that red subscribe button, hit that little bell icon, so you can turn on notifications. Let's dive in and have some fun with this. All right, so first off it talks about these strong man power lifters, Ken Ferris and Ben Baboumian. Okay. So these are two guys that are pretty interesting. Ben, for instance, is obese. He's a strong man, but he's obese. And honestly, I would hurt saying that, but the reality is I was obese before. And when I was obese, I was really strong too. Okay. The point is not to throw him under the bus and make fun of his body composition. The point is, is that when you eat a lot of carbs, like he's suggesting, you create a lot of insulin. And yes, of course you will create muscle when you have insulin. And yes, of course, you will also create fat when you have insulin.

So what am I getting at here? Yes. If you switch to a plant-based diet, and you eat a smorgasbord of carbs, there is a very good chance that you can build muscle, and you can also build fat. Yes, you can get your protein from carbs sources. Yes, you can get your protein from plant sources. I am the first to say that that can absolutely be done, and I've done videos on it. But does that mean that it's the healthiest way? Okay. You look at people like Michael Phelps, for instance. Michael Phelps obviously isn't vegan, but he goes and he swims a lot, and he works out a lot, and he is proud of his diet being Twinkies and pizza. Does that mean it's healthy? Come on. Everyone in their right mind knows that pizza and Twinkies are not healthy, but Michael Phelps has a six pack, and has a pretty lean sinewy body. Okay. I rest my case on this one. That one's simple and silly.

Let me read to you, and show you the conclusion of the study that they said ultimately made the ketogenic diet look bad. Okay. This is literally what the study says. "Results suggest the keto diet might be an alternative approach to decrease fat mass without decreasing lean tissue." It says it right there that the ketogenic diet is great for burning fat and maintaining your muscle. Okay? Now, some will argue, well in this movie, they talk about how the plant-based built more muscle. Yes, I will be honest, the plant-based diet built more muscle in an eight week period. But guess what happens? When you start a ketogenic diet, it takes you about eight weeks to get keto adapted to ultimately produce the ketones that are going to have the muscle sparing effect.

I want to end this video on something really funny though because I could go on forever and ever, but I'm not just going to drive up, watch time and try to waste your time. I want to get this to the point because this is important stuff that I just want out there. So let me end with this. I'm going to bring up an image from the end of the video, the end of this movie, and you tell me in the comment section below if this makes sense, and if this seems healthy. "A lot of pizza, pasta and burgers, sometimes at the same time." All right, I'll just leave that for you. I'll see you in the next video.
