Chocolate Nutella Pocky Cake -with yoyomax12

1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup boiling water
6.5 oz (3/4 cup plus 3 tbsp) or 185g butter, softened
1 1/2 cups caster or white granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla
3 eggs
1/2 cup nutella
1 1/2 cup self rising flour (you can make your own by adding 1 1/2 tsp of baking powder and 1/4 tsp salt to 1 1/2 cups of plain all purpose flour)
1/2 cup all purpose flour
3/4 cup buttermilk (make your own by adding 3/4 tbsp to 3/4 cup milk, stir and let sit for 5 minutes)
Enough pocky sticks to cover the outside of the cake. I used 9-10 packages of pocky that had 7 sticks in each pack.
Combine cocoa powder and boiling water in a small bowl, stir until smooth and allow to cool 5-10 minutes.
Combine the two types of flour together in another bowl.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar, blend in the vanilla and the eggs (one at a time). Blend in the water/cocoa mix and the nutella.
Add the flour mixture and the buttermilk alternately in 2 additions.
(add 1/2 of flour mix, blend, add 1/2 buttermilk, blend, add in another 1/2 flour mix, blend... etc) blending after each addition, until you have a nice, thick, fluffy, smooth batter that looks good enough to eat right out of the bowl.
Grease one DEEP 22 cm (9.5") baking dish or use two shallower "normal" pans.
Line the bottoms with greased parchment circles.
Pour the batter into the pan or pans.
Bake at 350 F until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. The time will vary depending on if you use one deep pan or two shallower ones. My time was about 40 minutes in two shallow, dark metal pans. A deep pan may take as much as 1 or 1 1/4 hours.
Allow cakes to cool in pans for 10 minutes, run a knife around the edges to loosen the cake(s) and then turn out onto a cooking rack to cool completely.
***NOTE*** the cakes will fall slightly after coming out of the oven, this is what is supposed to happen, don't panic.
Frosting:
1 cup nutella
200g or 7 oz of semi-sweet or dark chocolate.
Melt chocolate and stir in nutella. Allow to cool until thickened enough to spread properly.
Once it starts to thicken it thickens really FAST!!! If it becomes too solid to spread easily, microwave for 5 seconds at a time to loosen it up.
