Ever get stuck when trying to say “this or that” in Thai? In this lesson, you’ll learn how to say “or,” “either,” and “otherwise” in Thai — and when to use each one naturally in real conversation.
You’ll learn:
rue – หรือ – “or” (used for simple choices)
rue mai gor – หรือไม่ก็ – “either / or / otherwise”
mai yaang nan – ไม่อย่างนั้น – “otherwise / if not”
mai ngan – ไม่งั้น – “otherwise” (casual version)
Real examples:
khun yaak deum gaa-fae rue chaa? – คุณอยากดื่มกาแฟหรือชา – “Do you want coffee or tea?”
rao dtong jer gan wan-nee rue mai gor proong-nee – เราต้องเจอกันวันนี้หรือไม่ก็พรุ่งนี้ – “We must meet today or tomorrow.”
ter dtong tam gaan-baan hai set mai yaang nan ja doon long-thot – เธอต้องทำการบ้านให้เสร็จ ไม่อย่างนั้นจะโดนลงโทษ – “You must finish your homework, otherwise you’ll be punished.”
