Homemade Bloody Mary mix using diced tomatoes, peppers, celery, carrots, bell pepper, beets, and various seasonings. Feel free to adjust the quantities based on your taste preferences.
Ingredients:
4 cups diced tomatoes
1 poblano pepper
1 Cuban pepper
2 stalks of celery, roughly chopped
1 carrot, peeled and roughly chopped
1 bell pepper, deseeded and roughly chopped
2 beets, peeled and roughly chopped
2 cups water
1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
Handful of spinach
Handful of kale
Worcestershire sauce, to taste
Tabasco sauce, to taste
Horseradish, to taste
Celery salt, to taste
Salt, to taste
Pepper, to taste
Lime wedges (optional)
Instructions:
1. In a large pot, combine the diced tomatoes, poblano pepper, Cuban pepper, celery, carrot, bell pepper, and beets.
2. Add 2 cups of water and the can of tomato sauce to the pot.
3. Cover the pot and cook over medium heat until the mixture is reduced and all the vegetables are soft, approximately 30-40 minutes.
4. Add the spinach and kale to the pot and continue cooking until the kale is wilted and cooked, about 5-10 minutes more.
5. Remove the pot from the heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly.
6. Transfer the cooked vegetable mixture into a blender or food processor.
7. Blend until smooth and creamy.
8. Pour the mixture into a pitcher or container.
9. Add Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce, horseradish, celery salt, salt, and pepper to taste. Stir well to combine.
10. If desired, squeeze the juice of fresh lime wedges into the mix for added brightness.
11. Give it a taste and adjust the seasoning as needed.
12. Store the Bloody Mary mix in the refrigerator until ready to use.
To serve:
1. Fill a glass with ice cubes.
2. Pour the homemade Bloody Mary mix into the glass, leaving some room at the top.
3. Add vodka (optional) and stir well to combine.
4. Garnish with celery stalks, lime wedges, olives, or any other preferred garnishes.
5. Give it a final stir, and enjoy your homemade Bloody Mary!
