Mountain Man vs. Mexican Lancers : Kit Carson's Impossible Midnight Escape | FULL DOCUMENTARY

As hundreds of American soldiers, sailors, and Marines lie stranded on a hilltop in the middle of the San Diego desert, Kit Carson and his two brave companions, Navy Lt. Edward Beale and their native Diegueño guide named Chomokta, are on a mission to reach the American held port of San Diego in order to secure reinforcements for their countrymen.

With the surrounding countryside filled with the Mexican Army and Californio lancers that had wrought such havoc upon their forces, their task seems as though it will almost assuredly result in the deaths of all three men.

They have just escaped the Battle Of San Pasqual, the largest engagement of the Mexican-American War to take place on California soil, and must now accomplish a 30-mile trek through enemy territory, in the middle of the night. What is at stake is not only the lives of Carson and his companions, but their trapped and desperate countrymen as well.

While Kit Carson is already known throughout the country as a daring and capable mountain man and guide, what happens over the next 36 hours, here in the middle of the Southern California desert, will cement his legend nationwide as one of the most courageous men in American history.
