The Collapse of British Framebuilding? My Story & The Future

This isn’t just a comeback video. This is the start of a mission to document, protect, and pass on the craft of traditional steel framebuilding — before it’s lost.

Over the past year, I’ve faced illness, burnout, and the overwhelming challenge of trying to run a one-man workshop. But out of that struggle, something new has emerged: The One Lug at a Time Project.

This is more than just a book or a Patreon. It’s a coordinated effort to capture the knowledge, tools, and human stories behind Britain’s most respected framebuilding workshops — and share them with the world.

🖉 Here’s what we’re doing:

*125 patrons* → Document the Craft
I've already lined up interviews with builders from some of Britain's most iconic shops — including Ellis Briggs, Bob Jackson, Woodrup, and more. We'll preserve their stories, their voices, and their workshop wisdom before it's too late. This will become the backbone of *The Complete Framebuilder’s Guide*.

*225 patrons* → Rebuild the Supply Chain
I'll begin designing and producing new framebuilding components — bottom bracket shells, fork crowns, lug sets — built to modern specs but in the traditional style. These won’t be exclusive. They’ll be available to the whole trade.

*325 patrons* → Teach & Pass It On
At this level, we can bring in an apprentice and create a sustainable way to teach what can no longer be learned from books alone. I’ll also produce more long-form teaching content for fellow builders.
