阿彌陀佛（梵文：Amitābha，意為「無量光佛」或「無量壽佛」）是大乘佛教淨土宗信仰的核心，是佛中之王，光中之尊，慈悲與接引念佛眾生往生西方極樂世界的佛。

Amitabha (Sanskrit: Amitābha, meaning "Buddha of Infinite Light" or "Buddha of Infinite Life") is the core of the Pure Land sect of Mahayana Buddhism. He is the king of Buddhas, the most honorable of lights, and the Buddha who is compassionate and guides all sentient beings to the Western Paradise.

一、阿彌陀佛的名稱與意義
阿彌陀佛的名號來自梵文 Amitābha（無量光）或 Amitāyus（無量壽）：
阿彌陀：無量的意思
佛：覺者，覺悟真理者
因此，「阿彌陀佛」意指「具有無量光明與無量壽命的佛」，能無限地照耀與救度眾生，壽命無窮，法力無邊。《佛說觀無量壽佛經》：「光明遍照十方世界，念佛眾生攝取不捨。」

1. The Name and Meaning of Amitabha Buddha
The name of Amitabha comes from the Sanskrit Amitābha (Infinite Light) or Amitāyus (Infinite Life):
Amitabha: The meaning of infinite
Buddha: The awakened one, the one who realizes the truth
Therefore, "Amitabha" means "the Buddha with infinite light and infinite consumption", who can illuminate and save sentient beings infinitely, with infinite consumption and boundless power. "

二、阿彌陀佛的本願與極樂世界
阿彌陀佛在成佛之前是法藏比丘，於《無量壽經》中發下四十八大願，誓願若他成佛後，能創造一個清淨安樂的佛國——「西方極樂世界」，讓十方眾生稱念其名號，即可往生此淨土。
其中最根本的是第十八願是：
「設我得佛，十方眾生，聞我名號，至心信樂，欲生我國，乃至十念，若不生者，不取正覺。」
也是淨土宗念佛法門的根據：
「信受彌陀救度，專稱彌陀佛名，願生彌陀淨土，廣度十方眾生」。

2. Amitabha Buddha’s Original Vow and the Pure Land
Before becoming a Buddha, Amitabha Buddha was a monk named Dharmazang. In the "Infinite Life Sutra", he made forty-eight great vows, vowing that after he became a Buddha, he would be able to create a pure and peaceful Buddhist country - the "Western Paradise", where sentient beings in all directions could chant his name and be reborn in this pure land.
The most fundamental of these is the Eighteenth Vow:
"If I become a Buddha, sentient beings in the ten directions who hear my name, have sincere faith and wish to be born in my country, even if they recite my name ten times, if they are not born in my country, I will not attain enlightenment."
It is also the basis of the Pure Land Buddhist method of chanting Buddha’s name:
"Believe in and accept Amitabha's salvation, chant Amitabha's name exclusively, wish to be born in Amitabha's Pure Land, and widely save sentient beings in the ten directions."

三、阿彌陀佛在信仰中的地位
在大乘佛教中，特別是 淨土宗、法相宗、華嚴宗等宗派，阿彌陀佛是非常重要的佛，念佛人專以念萬德洪名「南無阿彌陀佛」作為日常修行核心：「一心專念彌陀名號，行住坐臥，不問時節久近，念念不捨者，是名正定之業，順彼佛願故。」臨終助念儀式中常持誦佛號，祈願往生極樂。

3. The status of Amitabha Buddha in faith
In Mahayana Buddhism, especially Pure Land Buddhism, Dharma-Appearance Buddhism, Huayan Buddhism and other sects, Amitabha Buddha is a very important Buddha. People who chant the Buddha's name "Namo Amitabha" as the core of their daily practice: "One-pointedly chant the name of Amitabha, walking, standing, sitting or lying down, regardless of the time or length, chanting without giving up, is called the right karma, because it is in accordance with the Buddha's wishes."

四、純正的淨土宗
「本願稱名，凡夫入報；平生業成，現生不退。」
宗祖——善導大師為淨土宗之大成者，開創一宗的祖師稱為「宗祖」。其在一宗之內地位之崇高，非餘人可比。
淨土宗的宗祖，為彌陀化身的唐朝善導大師，其集淨土教義之大成，撰《五部九卷》，楷定古今。淨宗行者唯依善導大師及相承祖師釋義為準。

4. Pure Pure Land Sect
"If you chant the name of the original vow, ordinary people will enter the Pure Land; if your life karma is completed, you will not regress in this life."

The founder of the sect - Master Shandao is the great master of the Pure Land Sect. The founder of a sect is called the "ancestor of the sect". His status in the sect is unmatched by others.
The founder of the Pure Land Sect is Master Shandao of the Tang Dynasty, who is the incarnation of Amitabha. He compiled the great achievements of the Pure Land teachings and wrote "Five Volumes and Nine Volumes", which set the standard for the past and present. Pure Land practitioners only follow the interpretations of Master Shandao and the ancestors who inherited the sect.
