Have you seen any Christmas Beetles this year?
They range in colour from brown with a golden sheen to a metallic green or red shell.
They begin to appear around the end of November or early December.
And they like to hang in trees like Christmas tree baubles, where they feed on leaves.
But if you’ve ever wondered why there seems to be fewer Christmas Beetles than in the past you’re not alone.
Anecdotally there are fewer Christmas Beetles, and they are appearing earlier due to warmer spring months.
Now, the Australian Museum needs your help in a citizen science project, where they want you to identify and locate Christmas Beetles using a smart phone app.
