Here's All the Gear I'm Taking on the Tahoe Rim Trail...and WHY

I'm gearing up for my second backpacking trip on the Tahoe Rim Trail this summer. There are lots of gear list videos out there, but this one is different. I show you not only WHAT I'm taking for this thru hike, but WHY.

As a professional outfitter, I understand how personal gear choices are. Knowing what to take on a backpacking trip can be confusing because there are so many options. That's why I took the time in this video to explain the reason each item I'm taking on my thru-hike earned a place in my pack.

With a full-comfort 15 lb base weight, my carefully curated gear list is full of trail-tested gear, including a few luxury items. As an older backpacker, I'm not ultralight because I value items that help me hike without pain and sleep well on the trail.

I also want to fully enjoy this trip, with a zero day in Tahoe City and a more leisurely pace than I usually hike. I added a few extra items to my gear list to make this trip amazing.
