The 3 Passes Loop is way better than the standard Everest Basecamp Loop. It is so much more scenic as it crosses 3 17,500 foot passes and shows you the highlights of the entire Everest region. Cc and I did this challenging trek without a guide or porter. We spent 95,000 Nepali Rupees, or $700 for two people. ($350 per person over 14 days=$25 per person/day) while trekking this route from March 10-March 23. We enjoyed doing this slightly before peak season and if you enjoy hiking, we would highly recommend the 3 passes route over the EBC Route as it is so much prettier and less crowded.
