Grado SR60e hi-fi budget headphones reviewed, purchased brand new 5 years ago for $80–90. I paid for them myself - no sponsors, no freebies, no corruption. Is this really the best under $100 audiophile headphone or just a hype?
Why are there almost no negative, real hi-fi reviews out there?
Apparently, every product is “great value for money,” right??
Everything you see in this video is not paid or sponsored. No PR filter.
I bought the gear tested here in this video and say exactly what I think – no sugarcoating.
This is a real test, based on critical listening, not polished marketing talk.
No sucking up to manufacturers or distributors.
No under-the-table deals.
SOUND
The 60e sound clear, detailed, and clean. Not lush or warm — what strikes you first is the air, freshness, and flow in the sound. Details come forward easily, maybe even too much!
The upper spectrum is bright, which can cause listening fatigue on already bright recordings.
Soundstage feels big thanks to all that air, but don’t expect magic.
Bass and dynamics are good. Fast, defined, not muddy, but lacking punch and volume.
Works well for small jazz bands, acoustic music, blues, or light rock.
For EDM, hip hop, or bass-heavy music — forget it.
Drums, large symphony orchestras, or Pink Floyd / the Prodigy tracks reveal the lack of dynamics, bass depth and weight.
COMFORT
You can wear them for longer sessions without much discomfort — ears don’t overheat, and the head doesn’t get sweaty.
Stock foam pads feel rough; not very pleasant on the skin.
Fit is a bit loose — they don’t clamp tightly, but comfort is decent.
BUILD QUALITY
Nothing special — treat them gently, they feel cheap in hand.
Foam on one side may deform over time, and replacement might be necessary.
LEAKAGE
They leak a lot — everyone around will hear what you’re listening to. Not for buses, quiet offices, or public use. Perfect for home listening.
AMPLIFIER
No headphone amp needed — works fine straight into any device.
OVERALL
Overall, I like these headphones, they're not bad — good for certain music and a solid budget option.
