TET Spain | Barcelona - Malaga | Day 4

Day 4 on TET Barcelona - Malaga (March 7, 2020)

Sunny, but cold and windy morning in Sarrion. Quick breakfast and we are on the track again to conquer 2020m high Sierra de Javalambre summit. Nice gravel roads with nice scenery of mountains. Lots of abandoned old mountain farm houses some rabbits and mountain goats are occurring.

Sun disappears in low foggy clouds. Wind brings cold gusts and near the ski center frost starts to form on the pine needles - time to take a photo shoot break and finally buy some warm ski gloves. Riding in the snow again.

Combination of altitude and low temperature results in loosing engine power and it starts to stall on low RPM. Snow and cloud cowers the nice views that should be seen from the summit, but it is a great experience to feel the power of nature in such a remote and lonely place.

After some nice downhill roads thru the rocky mountains and forest, weather changes again - sunny! Passing some caves at the roadside and ancient villages carved in the cliffs. Now there are more speedy roads and more sections on the brand new tarmac. Exciting navigation thru narrow streets of the villages.

Quick lunch break brings tiredness and we decided to go with the flow and have a siesta - 30 minutes of powernap was a really good boost - such good that making a navigational error, we draw 15km in the opposite direction, realizing it only by the 3 parked enduro bikes in the village we already visited some 15 minutes before. So extra 30km wasted :) At that point we realized that doing the TET Almeria loop more likely won't be possible due to our optimistic miscalculation on the driveable km per day on TET Spain track. Next time we would set 200km per day as optimum with proper lunch and power nap time, and photo breaks for enjoying the nice views.

Dust now is more intense on the gravel, so we are starting to keep more longer distances forcing our Senas to lose connection. More time to listening music and stopping to check out if we both are still on the road.Tonight we found a hotel at Alcalá del Júcar - picturesque town, what is built on the curve of the canyon wall. Finishing our trip in total darkness again. No energy and appetite for the supper. Shower, snacks and blackout.
