Madhur Temple

Madhur Madanantheswara Siddhi Vinayaka Temple is located 7-8 km north-east of Kasaragod town.

Construction
The temple was built by the Mypadi rulers of Kumbla. The temple was originally called ShrimadAnantheswara (Shiva) Temple.
The temple is now known as Anantheshwara Vinayaka Temple.

Legends
A local woman named Madaru found a Shiva linga statue that was not made by a human.
A boy drew a picture of Ganesha on the temple wall while playing. The picture grew in size and the boy called it "Bodda Ganesha".
During Tipu Sultan's invasion, he planned to demolish the temple but changed his mind after drinking water from the temple well.

Architecture
The temple has a three-tiered dome with copper-plated roofing. The temple has intricately carved wooden pillars and beams.
The temple walls and roofs are decorated with stucco images. The Namaskara Mandapam is decorated with wood carvings.

Significance
The temple is a blend of Hindu and Jain architectural styles.
The temple is a popular pilgrimage destination.
