Check out my restoration of this little York 60 vise. This guy is quite small, with a jaw width of only 60mm (less than 2.5" wide). I intentionally left some patina on the exposed cast iron in order to keep the "Made in Czechoslovakia" and "Slovania" stamping. I also quite like the original machining marks and decided to leave those as well.
This York 60 vise was in good usable condition, but it needed some serious TLC. I cleaned off all the crud, grease, and dirt before stripping the old paint with a chemical paint stripper. I then used a drill and wire brush attachment to clean off some of the paint left in the nooks and crannies before finally painting the whole thing. I made sure to tape off the critical areas to keep them clean. The jaws have some minor damage but I didn't feel the need to buy new ones. I think the original jaws cleaned up very nicely! Last but not least I made sure to grease the screw and sliding parts before re-assembly. I think it turned out great, and will prove to be a very handy small vise for the shop. This little guy is sure to last another lifetime!
