Lusine uses CARE (Comment-Ask Questions--Respond--Extend) to discuss a wordless book with these young children as they codeswitch back and forth between English and Armenian. The children are fascinated by the pictures, and no actual reading is necessary as Lusine uses CARE to build pre-literacy skills. An important part of CARE, "extend," occurs when Lusine adds words to the children's utterances.
