The Lord is risen, alleluia!
On this Sunday of the Lord’s Resurrection, the Gospel proclaims the discovery of the Empty Tomb. Mary of Magdala saw that the stone had been removed, and at once she reported it to Simon Peter and “to the other disciple whom Jesus loved.” At the tomb, Simon Peter saw the burial wrappings on the ground and the head cover rolled up. The other disciple “saw and believed.”
Friends, we are still menaced by the pandemic. But today is a beautiful time to renew our faith in Jesus who is true to his word. He told them he would rise in three days, and he did. Let his promise be our hope. Let us thank the witnesses like Mary Magdala, Peter and the apostles who continue to lead us to Easter faith.
