The Cagsawa Festival is an annual celebration in the town of Daraga, Albay that celebrates the resilience and faith of Daragueños in the face of calamity.
Centering on the Cagsawa ruins, the church’s belfry was the only structure left to survive a devastating explosion of Mayon Volcano in February 1, 1814. Built by Franciscan missionaries in the 1700s, it witnessed the tragedy that claimed thousands of lives who seeked protection in the church. As time passed, it became the symbol of the people’s faith, tenacity, and perseverance.
Sa pagdiriwang ng ika-300 taon ng Simbahan ng Cagsawa, sabay-sabay nating tunghayan ang makulay na kasaysayan, kultura at kwento ng Daraga. Isang kwento ng pag-asa pagbawi at pagbagon sa anuman hamon ng buhay.
