Roger Sayer plays John Ireland's Capriccio.
Ireland (1879-1962) was an English composer best known for his piano miniatures and songs with piano. His most famous works include ‘The Holy Boy’, his Piano Concerto, the hymn tune ‘Love Unknown’, and the choral motet ‘Greater Love Hath No Man’. His musical style has been described as an English variety of Impressionism, and so the Capriccio stands out as being unusually light-hearted.
