Until someone has been in a narcissistic relationship the basic description of a narcissist is someone that is grandiose and extroverted. A covert narcissist has most of the same personality traits of an overt narcissist except they have an outward sweet, charming mask that hides the type of person they are behind closed doors.

Most narcissists are grandiose and charming on the outside yet the cream filling is much different. Manipulation, lies, boundary violation, lack of reliability, cheating and smear campaigns.

Covert narcissists have a quiet smugness mixed with a superiority complex. They demand attention and complete loyalty without ever giving back. Covert narcissists are self-absorbed with no sense of empathy for anyone.

Many covert narcissists are passive-aggressive to their victims.
