At an altitude of approximately 11,649 feet (3,528 meters), Zoji La is notorious for its unpredictable weather conditions, steep inclines, and narrow, winding roads. The pass is often covered in snow and ice, making it incredibly challenging for vehicles to navigate. During winter, heavy snowfall can block the pass for several months, isolating Ladakh from the rest of the country. Despite these challenges, Zoji La remains a vital lifeline for the region, facilitating trade and transportation. Its breathtaking views, though, are a stark reminder of both the beauty and peril that nature can present.
