Patharia Cattle Market is a historically and economically important market located in Shantiganj Upazila of Sunamganj district. This market is mainly known for its cattle trade, especially during Eid al-Adha. Local farmers and traders sell their animals at this market, which plays an important role in the economy of the region.

According to the history of Sunamganj district, this region was part of the ancient Laur kingdom. After the Muslim conquest under Shah Jalal in 1303, Shah Kamal established the capital at Kuhafa Sholargaon. Between 1300 and 1765, Sunamganj district was part of the Muazzmabad kingdom, which was conquered by the Mughals in 1620. During this time, the region was politically and culturally prosperous, which influenced the development of local markets and markets.

As part of the modern development of Patharia Bazar, a 5.5-kilometer-long road called 'Garur Bazar Road' has been constructed by LGED, which connects the market and facilitates the transportation and commercial activities of the local people.

পাথারিয়া গরুর বাজার সুনামগঞ্জ জেলার শান্তিগঞ্জ উপজেলায় অবস্থিত একটি ঐতিহাসিক ও অর্থনৈতিকভাবে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ হাট। এই বাজারটি মূলত গবাদি পশুর বাণিজ্যের জন্য পরিচিত, বিশেষ করে কোরবানির ঈদের সময় এখানে গরুর ব্যাপক কেনাবেচা হয়। স্থানীয় কৃষক ও ব্যবসায়ীরা এই হাটে তাদের পশু বিক্রি করে থাকেন, যা অঞ্চলের অর্থনীতিতে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করে।

সুনামগঞ্জ জেলার ইতিহাস অনুযায়ী, এই অঞ্চল প্রাচীন লাউর রাজ্যের অংশ ছিল। ১৩০৩ সালে শাহ জালালের নেতৃত্বে মুসলিম বিজয়ের পর, শাহ কামাল কুহাফা শোলারগাঁওয়ে রাজধানী স্থাপন করেন। ১৩০০ থেকে ১৭৬৫ সালের মধ্যে সুনামগঞ্জ জেলা মুয়াজ্জমাবাদ রাজ্যের অংশ ছিল, যা ১৬২০ সালে মুঘলদের দ্বারা দখল হয়। এই সময়ে অঞ্চলটি রাজনৈতিক ও সাংস্কৃতিকভাবে সমৃদ্ধ ছিল, যা স্থানীয় বাজার ও হাটের বিকাশে প্রভাব ফেলেছিল।

পাথারিয়া বাজারের আধুনিক উন্নয়নের অংশ হিসেবে, এলজিইডি (LGED) কর্তৃক ‘গরুর বাজার রোড’ নামে একটি ৫.৫ কিলোমিটার দীর্ঘ সড়ক নির্মাণ করা হয়েছে, যা বাজারের সঙ্গে সংযোগ স্থাপন করে স্থানীয় মানুষের যাতায়াত ও বাণিজ্যিক কার্যক্রমে সহায়তা করে।
