Solo the Witness in Episode: Heresy (Console) | Destiny 2

Solo Witness is back, thanks to the VoG rocket getting an insane perk refresh alongside a few artifact mods. After almost 3 weeks of on-and-off attempts, I finally got the perfect run. And yes, it's super doable on controller as well. (Save your sanity)

I know how broken the taken orbs are (more on that below) but I was reached final stand a handful of times before they were a thing, so I knew if I kept grinding I would eventually clear but at that point I was getting severe brainrot from playing this encounter so much that I'm just glad to finish.

By far the worst thing about this encounter is that chieftain projectiles have collision. Like... why?? Why would you design them this way? I've had countless wipes just blowing myself up during damage because some dinky purple frisbee was in my face as I shot a rocket. It's super tilting to lose runs to that but hey, what can you do. You can sort of mitigate this by killing the left chieftain AFTER you shoot the last glyph so he won't respawn during damage, if it's convenient.

So how do taken orbs work? Firstly, you'll want to:
1) Be on the path of ambition (Level 15 at shaping slab)
2) Have all 10 tithing wormspawn collected in the Nether (Increases orb drop rate)

If both of those are done, every ~23 (?) enemy kills will spawn a taken orb near where they died (Screebs don't count as kills towards spawning orbs for some reason). Interacting with the orb will grant you the buff 'Blistering dominance' for 15 seconds, which DOUBLES all outgoing damage during that time. This allows for absurd burst damage on the witness with celestial nighthawk, and adds around ~2 million free damage to the rotation. A few more things to note about the orb:

It lasts ~90 seconds on the floor after it spawns
It's super slippery (Falls off the map a lot)
Explosive payload weapons can move them to more desirable positions

Even if you're not running solo witness I would suggest doing this anyways for all other content, it will make your builds a lot stronger. I'm not sure it's intentional that they're dropping in raids, so enjoy them while you can.
