Join me on a woods hike through Florida’s piney flat-wood’s to view pine stump relics of the Turpentine Industry. At the turn-of-the-century, the extraction of pine sap and the distillation of it into turpentine was the Sunshine State’s second-largest industry—after citrus. As you will see, some relics are meant to be dug, collected, and displayed. Others, however, are intended to be left for future generations to learn from and enjoy.
