Tsunglin Wu (吳宗霖) brass bowls demonstration
-In this video, gong maker and brass artist Tsunglin Wu (吳宗霖) is demonstrating some of his many bowls that he has created. The range of the bowls is extensive: the lowest bowl in the second part of the video measures 46.5 cm and the fundamental pitch is somewhere 3 octaves below middle C. As you will also hear, his bowls also reach into the 4th octave (middle C and above).
Like his gongs, Wu's instruments are made of brass, and are not casted. He hammers and shapes all of his instruments without any melting: anyone in the percussion and/or gong world knows that this is not a standard practice.
