Walter J. Matweychuk, PhD

Dr. Matweychuk is an expert on cognitive behavior therapy, particularly Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy. He was formally trained by Dr. Albert Ellis, who pioneered the cognitive behavioral psychotherapeutic tradition. He also has worked with Dr. Aaron T. Beck, the clinical researcher who developed and tested Beck's Cognitive Therapy. He is familiar with both of these approaches to CBT. Dr. Matweychuk works at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, teaches cognitive behavior therapy at New York University, and has a private practice in Manhattan, New York. Dr. Matweychuk is interested in the dissemination of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy and, for this purpose, has developed the internet resource REBTDoctor.com.
