Richard-Wagner-Akademie Dresden
Research and Music – Do They Belong Together?
The Richard-Wagner-Akademie of the Dresdner Musikfestspiele brings Wagner’s Ring of the Nibelung and the sound of the 19th century to the stage—clear, transparent, intelligible, and at the same time of unbroken emotional intensity.
During intensive rehearsal and workshop phases, the musicians of the Dresdner Festspielorchester, Concerto Köln as well as singers and conductor Kent Nagano are coached and guided by an international team of scholars. Based on solid academic research and performed on historical instruments—some of them faithfully reconstructed—this creates a sound experience that feels entirely new to modern ears, which we aim to share worldwide through this channel.
