Original Taekwon-Do
The "Original" Taekwon-Do was the Korean Martial Art of Self Defense that first applied the name Taekwon-Do to the system that was being developed in the Korean Military by Gen. Choi and the soldiers under his command. They conceived of the name in 1954 and received approval from the Korean President in 1955. They continuously applied the name Taekwon-Do from this time period. The other styles of Tae Kwon Do came to apply the name to their systems or groups years later. These Original Taekwon-Do Instructors in the Military began to diffuse Taekwon-Do around the world, starting in 1959. When the ITF was formed in 1966 they continued this dissemination. The WTF was formed in 1973.
