Because Osaka station is one of the main railway stations in Osaka, each platform has two elevators, aside from a number of stairway accesses along its length. At one end of the platforms, elevators lead directly to street level, with a special elevator on the Osaka Loop Line platform instead only serving an intermediate level: • Unknown screw drive glass elevator at Osak... . The other elevator access is provided via a pedestrian overpass located roughly in the middle of the platforms. However, to get from the overpass to street level, a total of three elevators need to be taken, with one of them only traveling half a floor.
This video shows an elevator connecting one of the platforms to the overpass. It is a holeless hydraulic model with some notable features. The shaft pit is very shallow, and there is no hole for the hydraulic piston, since that is mounted to the side of the shaft as typical for holeless designs. What is not so typical is that the cab itself actually has a guide rail for the top part of the second hydraulic stage to glide along. Also, the elevator has quick and smooth leveling, almost like a traction elevator.
