Description for performing a wall plank. When a patient has significant pain, unable to crawl onto the floor, older, or has limited strength, we modify exercises to their level. Using a wall decreases much of the strain on the low back and is a great beginning step toward a modified plank on the ground. We also start with these exercises when a person has a limitation to crawling on the floor or prefers to do as many exercises standing.
Older knees, chronic low back injuries, beginners, and patients in pain can often safely start with the Standing Wall Plank Exercises.
