BRAND NEW: PDQ ProTouch Tandem || Mobil Alltown Station of Wellesley

Right before a HUGE rainstorm, there was one more car wash that I wanted to check out before heading home. The wash is located at a Mobil Alltown Gas Station in Wellesley MA, which was only 10 minutes away from WashWorld.

This wash has a interesting history to it. The station opened up in the early 2000’s with a Ryko Ultrasonic 2001 Overhead with Slimline dryers: it stayed like that until 2011 or 2012, when it was ripped out and replaced with a Ryko SoftGloss MAXX. This system lasted much longer than the US2001 OHD, but the SoftGloss was eventually replaced with this PDQ ProTouch Tandem a year ago.

My guess is that the SoftGloss was breaking down on cars way too much so that they needed to replace it. I also think that Alltown has a contract with PDQ now as they have replaced 3 other Ryko systems at other stations. They must’ve wanted to choose a more reliable wash manufacturer so they went with PDQ. Most of their touch free PDQ systems were replaced with other manufacturers, so they went a different direction and decided to install soft touch PDQ systems, both the ProTouch and Tandem SurfLine.

The systems aren’t the only thing that Alltown has been switching. Most of their locations used Ryko chemicals, but they are now switching over to Simoniz chemicals, including the Ceramic Sealant! This however, makes the top washes Alltown has a bit more expensive, but not as expensive as their 2 tunnel washes that they own.

The wash shown in this video was the $22 Ultimate Wash which included:

*Simoniz Wax & Shine
*Ceramic Surface Sealant
*Cosmic Light Show
*Double Pass Dry with Extended Time (FAIL)

Wash Quality: great! It started to downpour right after going through this and thanks to the ceramic sealant, the rain beaded off of our car without any issues! The dryers only did a single pass even though on the menu said it would do a double pass, but them staying on when we left made up for it.
