Welcome to Day 5 of our Summer 2024 Route 66 Adventure! This leg of the trip takes us from the edge of Illinois into the heart of Missouri, exploring quirky roadside attractions and experiencing a few lodging surprises along the way:

Wally’s—a new competitor to the beloved Buc-ee’s
Meramec Caverns—historic limestone caves with tours, boat rides, and more
Fanning’s Red Rocker—once the world’s largest rocking chair on Route 66
Totem Pole Trading Post—an old-school spot with a touch of controversy
Uranus, Missouri—a pun-filled attraction featuring a sideshow museum, fudge factory, and endless humor
Final stops at Taco John’s, the Munger Moss Motel, and Steak ‘n Shake
Plus, another near-hotel disaster that eventually led us to a comfy stay at the Greenstay Hotel
