Bowfell At Christmas 🎄 | Winter Walk From Great Langdale Via Three Tarns

A festive winter walk in the Lake District as we head up Bowfell from Great Langdale, staying at the Old Dungeon Ghyll for a December weekend adventure 🎄

With clag, fleeting blue skies and a constantly changing forecast, we choose a steady route up The Band to Three Tarns, then continue past Great Slab to the summit of Bowfell. Along the way, I talk through route choices including Climbers’ Traverse, conditions underfoot, and why this route is best done the other way round.

After a careful descent past Bowfell Buttress and down by Rossett Beck, we face the infamous trudge through Mickleden before finishing back in Great Langdale. Not perfect weather, but a cracking Christmas walk all the same.
