BMW 330i High Pressure Fuel Pump Replacement DIY (2019-Present BMW G20 330i, G22 430i, B48 Engine)

►Replacing fuel pumps has always been a common car job, but now it's the high-pressure pump. Direct fuel injection allows engines like BMW's B48 to punch above their weight in performance and hit fuel mileage well above its predecessors. Unfortunately, high-pressure fuel pumps wear out at higher mileage, making them a common replacement on older models. You'll know your fuel pump needs replacing when the engine begins to act up. Symptoms include stumbles at idle, worsening power and economy, and fuel system-related engine codes.

Replacing the high-pressure fuel pump is a fairly involved job, but the mileage it fails at allows you to perform other likely needed maintenance at that age. We've paired it with a valve cover replacement to knock off two big jobs at once. While you're in there, remove the cam follower that actuates the pump. If the roller is pitted or worn in any way, you should replace it with a new one.
