$5.00 SWITCH COST $100.00 TO FIX - REMOTE START ABORTED - 2014 Charger Hood Latch Replacement

Yet another Video of my car needing work. I haven't had remote start working for several months. Its cold enough now that I wanted to get it fixed. After digging into the issue I found the Hood latch is registering as Open even when the hood is closed. I looked into options of replacing just the switch since its a simple open/close switch. However, there is no replacement of the switch and I had to replace the entire hood latch. I was only able to find this latch from Mopar directly at a cost of nearly $100.00 from eBay (more at dealership). It honestly is absolutely ridiculous that its not an individual switch that can be replaced. This switch is no different than a brake or neutral safety switch in its operation.

If you have this error code and need to fix it right be sure to clean the connection first and test it. That didn't fix ours but its worth trying first. Otherwise order the part below and with a few simple tools you can get this done in under 30 minutes and have remote start again.

I will state as I do in the video there are other options to fix this that bypass the safety feature. You can find videos for that but personally I would rather fix this correctly.
