Warm up with this classic Chinese Pork Rib Soup with Daikon Radish (蘿蔔排骨湯) — a simple, comforting, and nourishing soup that uses only a handful of ingredients but delivers deep flavor. This traditional family-style recipe is perfect for cold weather, easy weeknight dinners, or anytime you want something light, clean, and soothing.
In this video, I’ll show you how to prepare baby pork ribs the right way, how to keep them tender (not rubbery!), and how to make a clear, naturally sweet broth using fresh daikon radish.
🥣 Ingredients
Baby pork ribs – 2 lbs
Daikon radish – 2 lbs
Cilantro
Ginger
Salt
Black pepper
Sugar (optional, reduces daikon bitterness)
👩🍳 How to Make Chinese Pork Rib Soup with Daikon
Peel and cut the daikon into chunks.
Cut baby pork ribs into individual pieces and rinse clean.
Place ribs in cold water with a pinch of salt and bring to a boil. Remove foam to keep the broth clean.
In a second pot, heat fresh water until hot or boiling.
Once the first pot boils for one minute, transfer ribs into the second pot. (Hot water prevents the ribs from turning tough.)
Add daikon radish to the soup pot.
Add ginger and a little sugar to balance daikon bitterness.
Bring to a boil, then simmer on medium-low for about 1 hour, leaving a small gap on the lid.
Season with salt and black pepper.
Add cilantro right before turning off the heat.
Enjoy a bowl of clean, comforting, and naturally sweet pork bone broth!
