Renowned classical vocalist Anand Bhate, also known as Anand Gandharva, shares his remarkable musical journey — from experimenting with the Bulbul Tarang as a child to becoming a celebrated Hindustani classical singer of the Kirana Gharana.
His great-grandfather, Bhate Buva, was a renowned Thumri and Natya Sangeet singer in the 19th century, a contemporary of Bal Gandharva. Bal Gandharva used to visit their home frequently. This early exposure to music deeply influenced young Anand and planted the seeds of his lifelong passion.
Anand Bhate began his classical training at age 10 and later trained for 15 years under Pt. Bhimsen Joshi. He is also an engineering graduate from COEP.
