Title:
"Advancing Cardiac RadioAblation"
Abstract:
This presentation will commence with a concise overview of the speaker's professional background, notable contributions, and current research interests. The focus will then shift to an in-depth discussion of cardiac radioablation (CRA) also referred to as stereotactic arrhythmia radioablation (STAR), which is one of the research areas within the speaker's laboratory. This emerging treatment modality is primarily employed in compassionate care settings for patients with refractory ventricular tachycardia (VT). While cardiac radiation exposure is typically contraindicated due to increased cardiovascular disease risk, targeted single-dose radiation to VT circuits has demonstrated remarkably positive outcomes in this specific patient subpopulation. The research encompasses various aspects, including fundamental investigations, development of image processing tools, auto-contouring and auto-planning algorithms, specialized MRI sequence design, and respiratory motion
mitigation strategies.
