I started out making a short video and got involved in making the design flexible and it turned into a video that is over 1 hour long. In this video I demonstrate how to change a raster (PNG) image into a vector (SVG) using Inkscape. During the demo I explain or mention:
1. Importing an image into Inkscape.
2. Using the multicolor import with Brightness Steps.
3. Analyze the scan layers to choose the best ones to keep for reducing the vector down to usable parts.
4. Combining and subtracting one shape from another.
5. Removing artifacts leftover from a path difference operation.
6. Using the node tool to select nodes for deletion.
7. Copying nodes from one path into a separate object in Inkscape.
8. How to raise and lower objects in the stack on the canvas using the lower and raise selection buttons.
9. Using nodes to reshape paths by adjusting the control points on the nodes.
10. Using guides to keep track of where elements should be positioned prior to deleting them.
11. Filling "holes" in paths using the pen tool.
12. Deleting all guides at once.
13. Exporting using Inscape and controlling the DPI when exporting.
14. Exporting as a high resolution PNG for GIMP to use.
